What is EDI? Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the transfer of data between computers, usually of different organizations. This is generally accomplished using approved standards for format and content. Newcor supports two methods of EDI communications:
Why EDI? EDI allows the transmission of data between computers of different organizations. Only the relevant information needs to be exchanged between organizations, as the static information can be stored on each organization’s system. EDI effectively removes paper from the loop, creating tremendous opportunity for improving efficiency. Statistics have proven that error rates can be dramatically reduced. Compare one error in every three hundred hand-written characters to one error in every three hundred thousand characters exchanged via EDI.
